This option, available whether players have played The Witcher 2 or not, enables them to choose important story outcomes, such as the fate of certain characters.

According to the game's guides writer, Danielle, the 'simulate Witcher 2' option is vital, as it changes some of the main story beats and even adds or removes quests depending on the player's choices. Players who have save data from The Witcher 2 are also given the option to import their save.

Which automatically brings across the decisions made in the previous game.

During a simulated save, players are presented with a branching narrative at Emperor Emhyr's palace in Vizima. There, key story moments are revisited and altered. A key decision lies at the heart of this branching storyline: the fate of Letho.

A character whose ultimate survival or demise is determined by the player's choices leading up to this point.

Players who choose to simulate a save will miss a section of the game if Letho is dead. And will also bypass his questline. The 'simulate Witcher 2' option is available in The Witcher 3 Remastered.

And players are advised to use it to experience the game's full story.
