The move comes as the game's official Beta release went live following Blizzard'It's big reveal at BlizzCon 2026.
Despite costing at least $59.99 to access, the Beta has attracted a large following worldwide, with fans struggling to get into the game during its initial launch. Senior game producer Tom Ellis described the launch as "a bit excessive," but the game's popularity has continued to grow, with Blizzard actively raising the population cap to accommodate the demand.
According to Longdale, the increase in the population cap is necessary to ensure that players can continue to enjoy the game without experiencing server issues. The move is part of Blizzard's efforts to make World of Warcraft: Forever accessible to a wider audience. This includes those who may have had their accounts lapse in Classic.
