Sachin Tendulkar, the cricketing icon turned honorary Air India Force Group Captain, has expressed his admiration for Netflix's Operation Safed Sagar after watching the show.

The war drama, which premiered recently, tells the story of the Indian Air Force's eponymous operation during the Kargil War. The series follows the journey of some of the Indian Air Force's youngest officers as they carry out missions at extreme altitudes, showcasing their courage and sacrifice.

Tendulkar took his account tuesday

Tendulkar took to his X account on Tuesday to share his thoughts on the show, writing a heartfelt note to the Indian Air Force's Media Cell (IAF_MCC).

"Just finished watching Operation Safed Sagar. It made me think about how different life is for those who are out there carrying the pressure and uncertainty, while we sleep peacefully and carry on with our everyday lives," Tendulkar wrote.

He also reflected on a chance meeting he had with Air Chief Marshal BS Dhanoa, whom he met many years ago. "Watching Operation Safed Sagar now, seeing what he and so many others went through during Kargil, made me look back at that meeting with a deeper sense of appreciation."

"The courage is extraordinary," Tendulkar added. "So is the discipline and mental strength behind it. I feel fortunate to be associated with the IAF and to have an understanding of the values that define it."

Watching this story only made me more grateful, he said. Thank you for everything you do for us. Jai Hind!"

BS Dhanoa, the then-Wing Commander who commanded the No. 17 Squadron ("Golden Arrows") flying MiG-21s during Operation Safed Sagar, is now a retired Indian Air Force (IAF) general who served as the Chief of the Air Staff from December 2016 to September 2019.

Actor Jimmy Shergill plays him on the Netflix show. The series explores the human experiences behind the operation, delving into the lives of those involved and the sacrifices they made.
