Google's smart home hardware prices have taken a significant hike, leaving many consumers scrambling to snag last year's models at discounted rates. The Google TV Streamer, which debuted in 2024 for $100, has seen its price jump to $150 at the Google Store and Best Buy, with some retailers still offering remaining stock for the original launch price of $100.
However, it appears that these lower prices may be short-lived. The Nest lineup is also feeling the pinch, with all five currently available cameras and doorbells seeing significant price increases. The battery-powered Nest Cam now costs $200, up from $180, while the second-generation wired Nest Cam Outdoor jumps to $200 from $150. Meanwhile, the third-generation wired Nest Cam Indoor has risen to $130 from $100.
On the other hand, some items in the Nest lineup remain unchanged, including the Nest Hub, thermostats, and the new Google Home Speaker. The Nest Cam with Floodlight bundle still retains its original price of $280.

These changes took effect on August 31, according to Google, which may make it more challenging for consumers to find last year's models at discounted rates.
For those who have been hesitant to invest in Google's smart home hardware due to the high prices, this latest development may be a significant setback. However, for those who are quick on their feet, snagging older stock at launch prices before it is cycled out may still be an option.
