150 Illegal Immigrants Deported from J&K to West Bengal

Indian Air Force aircraft have transported around 150 people, described as "illegal immigrants", from Jammu and Kashmir to Bagdogra airport in West Bengal, as part of a crackdown on undocumented migrants. The move comes two months after a high-level committee on Demographic Changes visited the Union Territory. This highlights the need for stricter border security measures.
The committee's findings have been instrumental in identifying the individuals being deported. With the Border Security Force (BSF) playing a important step in the operation.
According to police sources, the immigrants were mostly from Bangladesh and were detained by the Jammu and Kashmir Police over the last few days. The police conducted a special exercise to identify "illegal immigrants" in the Union Territory, which resulted in the detention of around 500 people, including those who have been deported to West Bengal.

The majority of these individuals were settled in different parts of the Kashmir valley for many years. With many engaging in menial jobs such as rag picking.
The Jammu and Kashmir administration has sent around 150 people, described as "illegal immigrants", to Bagdogra airport for deportation, as part of a coordinated effort to process their repatriation. The Union Home Ministry has established a committee to oversee the process. This was informed about the presence of 7,656 Rohingya and 504 Bangladeshi nationals in the Union Territory.
The committee also registered 117 cases against undocumented migrants, with 101 cases in Jammu and 16 in Kashmir.
