Ujjain, India - Ujjain Collector Roshan Kumar Singh has issued a stern warning. Officials stated that those spreading misinformation or misleading reports about the damage to the Shahi Masjid mosque in Ujjain will face strict action.
The mosque suffered damage during the removal of a minaret on Thursday, amidst a flurry of social-media messages and alleged misinformation.
As the road widening project progressed at Chhatri Chowk, a section of the mosque came under demolition, causing some damage to the structure. Fortunately, no fatalities or injuries were reported, and no one is currently trapped. Following a community-led agreement to remove the affected area, the mosque administration had collaborated with local residents.
However, a large crowd gathered at the site, contributing to the dissemination of false information and fueling public concern.

Police have registered multiple FIRs in connection with the violence, alleged misinformation, and provocative social-media posts. As of September 30, eight FIRs have been registered against 35 individuals, with 20 arrested and produced before court.
The police are also examining CCTV footage, drone footage, and social-media posts to identify others involved in the violence.
Members of the mosque committee have stated their intention to continue protesting against the demolition through peaceful demonstrations and all democratic forms of protest. They have expressed confidence that they will be able to restore their mosque, provided that they are allowed to do so peacefully.

The Ujjain Superintendent of Police, Pradeep Sharma, has stated that 15 individuals were initially detained, and an FIR was registered against seven, including social-media content creators.
