As part of the state government's 100-day action programme, a new initiative called WOMN — Women on the Move &. Menstrual Need-s will begin on Tuesday, aiming to improve access to menstrual hygiene products for women and girls during travel.
The project will be launched by Women and Child Development Minister Bindu Krishna at the Thampanoor KSRTC Bus Terminal in Thiruvananthapuram.
The Women and Child Development Department has announced plans to install sanitary napkin vending machines at select public places across Keralam. The machines will dispense packets containing three sanitary napkins at a fixed price of Rs 10. Meanwhile, incinerators will be installed to efficiently handle used napkins.
The project will initially target 14 key KSRTC terminals and depots. With plans to expand to major tourist destinations and other public places across the state.
