NHSRCL Launches First Steel Bridge for Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train Project

The National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited has achieved a major milestone in the construction of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train project with the launch of its first steel bridge. Weighing 1,405 tonnes, the 100-metre-long bridge is a shows the corporation's commitment to delivering high-quality infrastructure projects.

The bridge was fabricated at a workshop in Trichy, Tamil Nadu, over 1,300 km away from its final installation site in Maharashtra. The fabrication process involved precision cutting, drilling, welding, and painting according to approved designs and specifications. Each batch of steel used in production underwent rigorous Ultrasonic Testing to ensure its quality and integrity.

At the heart of the newly constructed steel bridge lies a complex network of 22 skid arrangements. Carefully designed to distribute the weight of the structure. The bridge's foundation also features a impressive 54,076 Tor-Shear Type High Strength Bolts, engineered to withstand the rigors of time.

To further enhance its resilience, the bridge features a C5 protective painting system, while elastomeric bearings help mitigate the effects of vibrations.

International welding experts certified the welders and supervisors involved in the work. This ensures that the bridge's construction met the highest standards of quality and safety. The launching operation was planned during night traffic blocks to minimize disruption to highway commuters while the heavy steel structure was moved into position.

The completion of this steel bridge marks a significant step towards completing the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train project. This is expected to transform the country's rail network and improve connectivity between the two cities.
