Mumbai-Bengaluru Special Train Announced to Tackle Peak Passenger

Indian Railways has announced a special train between Mumbai and Bengaluru to meet the expected increase in passenger demand during the upcoming Durga Puja, Diwali, and Chhath festivals. The train will be a significant improvement over the existing Visvesvaraya Terminal (SMVT) in Bengaluru.

This has been struggling to keep up with the growing number of visitors. The new train will connect Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) in Mumbai with Sir M. Visvesvaraya Terminal (SMVT) in Bengaluru, a 560-kilometer route that spans 16 stations.

This includes Dadar, Thane, and Pune, before reaching the southern terminus at Tumakuru.

The Mumbai-Bengaluru special train will depart from CSMT Mumbai every Saturday from October 10 to November 21 at 00:35 hrs and arrive at SMVT Bengaluru at 23:55 hrs on the same day. In the return direction, train number 01014 SMVT Bengaluru-CSMT Mumbai Special will depart from SMVT Bengaluru every Sunday from October 11 to November 22 at 04:30 hrs and arrive at CSMT Mumbai at 04:05 hrs the following day.

Train number 01013/01014 Mumbai-Bengaluru-Mumbai special train will comprise 22 coaches. This includes 2 AC 2-Tier coaches, 18 AC 3-Tier coaches and 2 Luggage-cum-Guard-cum-Generator Van coaches, providing passengers with a comfortable and convenient journey.

The increased passenger demand during the upcoming festivals is expected to put a strain on the existing infrastructure in Bengaluru, including the Visvesvaraya Terminal (SMVT). The new train will provide a significant relief to the city's transportation system. Reducing congestion and making it easier for visitors to get around.
