Federal court documents indicate that the Myrtle Beach pastor must also avoid the excessive use of alcohol and submit to regular testing for prohibited substances. Additionally, the terms require him to take part in either an inpatient or an outpatient substance use treatment program while awaiting trial.

Indictment and Cyberstalking Charges

The legal scrutiny follows a federal indictment issued in December 2025. Prosecutors accuse John Paul Miller of cyberstalking his late wife, Mica Miller, for nearly three years and lying to law enforcement officials regarding the frequency of his contact and vehicle property damage.

Authorities state that the alleged harassment began in November 2022 and persisted until April 27, 2024. Investigators allege that the religious leader lied to authorities in October 2024 concerning the number of times he reached out to her and whether he damaged the tires on her vehicle.

Tragic Death of Mica Miller

Mica Miller, who was 30 years old, was found dead on April 27, 2024, at Lumber River State Park in North Carolina, approximately 70 miles away from her home. Medical examiners determined that she died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, and her death was officially ruled a suicide.

While federal prosecutors have not charged the pastor in connection with her actual death and he has consistently denied any involvement, a federal trial is currently scheduled for October 2026. He is currently out of jail after posting a $100,000 bond.

The case has regained significant national attention following the release of the documentary series titled "Death of a Pastor's Wife." The production features video and text evidence alongside testimonies detailing alleged emotional abuse during the marriage.
