Captain Smit Machchhar, a seasoned pilot with 17 years of experience, successfully fought off the attacker and opened the cockpit door.

According to eyewitnesses, the plane plummeted 14,000 feet in about 30 seconds before Captain Machchhar managed to regain control. Some passengers rushed to the cockpit and overpowered the attacker, while a reserve crew onboard landed the plane without incident.
