Bihar CM Samrat Choudhary puts SIR controversy to rest, says Congress should present facts

Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary has stated that the recent joint statement issued by the Chief Election Commissioner and two Election Commissioners has brought an end to the controversy surrounding the Special Invitation Registration (SIR) process.

Choudhary emphasized that the Election Commission's (EC) clarification on the matter has provided clarity. Officials stated that the letter to the Cabinet Secretary was sent regarding a different issue. Thereby dispelling any doubts in the minds of the public.

He acknowledged that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) allies had every right to express concerns. However, urged them to present concrete facts to facilitate the correction of any discrepancies.

During the SIR process, it was revealed that 36 lakh voters had shifted, with 22 lakh having passed away, and seven lakh registered in more than one place. The final voter list consisted of 7.42 crore voters, with no one challenging the seven lakh deletions.

Choudhary emphasized that the EC has confirmed that all decisions were taken by consensus. And that any political party with complaints should present facts after the EC completes its process. Which can be reviewed by the courts.

He criticized the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha. Rahul Gandhi, and the Leader of the Opposition in the Bihar Assembly, Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, for rarely presenting facts, instead traveling around the state like tourists.

Choudhary argued that the Congress party, which has produced three Prime Ministers from a single family, including Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi, and Rajiv Gandhi, as well as a "superpower" in Sonia Gandhi, should not lecture others.

He also expressed his party'It was success in winning elections under Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Alongside their allies, and stated that the Congress party cannot digest a poor man's son as Prime Minister.

The Bihar CM's statements come as the SIR controversy continues to simmer. With the EC's clarification and Choudhary's words aimed at putting the issue to rest and promoting a more constructive dialogue.
