Akshay Kumar and filmmaker Priyadarshan are set to reunite for their ninth film together, marking a departure from their previous comic outings. The yet-untitled project will delve into the world of wildlife conservation, with Kumar taking on a complex character that undergoes a profound transformation.
According to sources close to the production, Kumar's character is inspired Initially, he focuses on eliminating man-eating tigers and leopards that pose a threat to his village. However, as he witnesses the devastating impact of poaching and deforestation on wildlife and their habitats, his perspective shifts dramatically.

"Akshay's character learns to read the forest long before becoming a famous hunter," reveals a source. "He kills several man-eating tigers and leopards that terrorise his village. Later, he becomes an advocate for wildlife conservation as he understands the devastating impact of poaching and deforestation, and realises that preserving their habitat is crucial."
Priyadarshan plans to bring a unique blend of comedy and thriller elements to the story, setting the narrative against the lush forests of 1960s India. The filmmaker expects to begin pre-production in October, with filming scheduled to commence in January 2027.
"The movie will be shot in a start-to-finish schedule in a forest," adds the source. "We'll conduct a recce in the jungles of Rajasthan and Gujarat after the release of Haiwaan to ensure we capture the essence of this era."

The female lead for the project has not been finalised yet, but further details about the cast and title are expected to be announced at a later stage. This marks the ninth collaboration between Kumar and Priyadarshan, following successful comedies like Hera Pheri, Garam Masala, Bhool Bhulaiyaa, Bhagam Bhag, and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2.
Their latest collaboration, Haiwaan, is scheduled to release on September 11, 2026. With this new project, the duo aims to explore a subject that is both timely and thought-provoking, one that will resonate with audiences worldwide.
