Mouni Roy's journey to stardom began with a chance encounter that changed her life forever.

The actor, who studied English Honours at Delhi's Miranda House and pursued a master's degree in mass communication from Jamia Millia Islamia, revealed how she landed her first role on Farah Khan's YouTube vlog.

"I was walking outside the university when somebody from Ekta Ma'am's team saw me walking on the road and tapped me on the shoulder," Mouni shared. "They asked if I wanted to audition for a show, and that's how it all started."

Mouni also spoke about her initial intentions of moving to Mumbai for a summer job, but she fell in love with the city and its vibrant atmosphere.

"I thought I would come for a few months and then go back to Delhi," Mouni said. "But the moment I arrived, I knew I wanted to stay. The city has a way of getting under your skin."

On the work front, Mouni was last seen in Varun Dhawan's film Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, which failed to impress audiences at the box office.

She also featured in the web series Ab Hoga Hisaab, which has been renewed for a second season.

Mouni is set to appear in the 2025 film The Bhootnii, alongside Sanjay Dutt and Sunny Singh.

Apart from her work, Mouni has been making headlines lately for her personal life, including her divorce from businessman Suraj Nambiar after four years of marriage.

The couple released a joint statement on Instagram confirming their split and slamming "sensationalised" rumours about their marriage.

"We note with dismay the unnecessary attention into our personal lives," the statement read. "We would like to state that we have decided to part ways and are taking the necessary time to address matters privately and amicably."
