Bigg Boss Marathi's Divya Shinde accused of assault, extortion in Pune

Bigg Boss Marathi fame and social media influencer Divya Shinde and several others have been booked by Pune Police following a complaint from a retired government doctor alleging he was assaulted at his residence and threatened over a ₹5 lakh demand. A report by The Indian Express.

A police complaint filed by Dr Vidyadhar Gaikwad. A retired medical officer, at the Kalepadal police station in Pune has led to the registration of a case. The allegations, as outlined in the FIR, encompass extortion, physical harm, threats, and an attempt on his life.

Gaikwad is also linked to the Karunadeep Foundation. Which staged the Kala Avishkar Mahotsav at the Balgandharva Auditorium in Pune from 1 to 3 September.

According to the complaint, Shinde attended the event despite allegedly not being invited and later claimed that her presence had helped promote the programme. The complainant alleged that she subsequently demanded ₹5 lakh from him, with around ₹50,000 transferred to Shinde through Google Pay beforehand.

The complaint further alleged that Shinde, Anna Dhamdhere, and others visited Gaikwad's residence in Pune's Mohammadwadi area on September 17 and demanded the remaining amount. The accused allegedly arrived at Gaikwad's residence at Nyati Highlands on September 24 and demanded ₹5 lakh. With Gaikwad allegedly assaulted with a wooden stick, belt, and metal utensil.

The complaint alleged that Gaikwad was assaulted and his son was also threatened, with the accused allegedly vandalising items inside the house. The police have obtained CCTV footage from the residential complex as part of their investigation.

Divya Shinde is a social media influencer known by the name “Sarkar” and gained wider recognition after appearing on Bigg Boss Marathi 6 earlier this year. Police are currently investigating the case and gathering evidence.

The police are expected to take further action in the case, with the investigation ongoing. The accused have been booked under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and are currently in police custody.

Dr Vidyadhar Gaikwad is a retired government doctor and the president of the Karunadeep Foundation. The Karunadeep Foundation is a non-profit organisation that aims to promote education and healthcare.

September 1-3: The Kala Avishkar Mahotsav was organised by the Karunadeep Foundation at Balgandharva Auditorium in Pune.

September 24: Shinde and others allegedly arrived at Gaikwad's residence at Nyati Highlands and demanded ₹5 lakh.

The accused, including Shinde and Anna Dhamdhere, are currently in police custody.
