  • Deleted scenes to be added to re-release of Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day has shattered box office records in the US, solidifying its position as the highest-grossing film of all time. The movie's commercial success can be attributed to its departure from the traditional superhero fare. Embracing a darker tone that sets it apart from previous installments.

According to Tom Holland, the film's unique aesthetic was influenced by a joke from The LEGO Batman Movie, released in 2017. In an interview with Accion Cine Series, Holland revealed that the film's portrayal of Spider-Man's isolation was inspired by a humorous commentary on the character's public persona, which starkly contrasts with his private life.

In the scene in question, Batman (voiced by Will Arnett) heads back to Wayne Manor after a successful day of crimefighting, only to be met with a sad plate of microwaved lobster thermidor and a lonely rewatch of Jerry Maguire. "Sending that into [director Destin Daniel Cretton] being like this is a great little thing for us, we should do something like this," Holland said.

"I just think that it creates a lot of layers and people are going to yearn for Peter Parker to make some life changes so that he can find happiness and peace and love."

Holland's comments highlight the film's unique approach to character development, which sets it apart from other superhero movies. Holland told Quotable prior to release. "But they learned lessons from that experience.
