Actor and activist Prakash Raj has called on citizens of Bengaluru to join a mass protest against the SIR process. Scheduled to take place at Freedom Park on October 8, 2026.
The protest, organized by The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), aims to raise awareness about alleged discrepancies in the SIR processes and seek the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
"I just want you to know that you are not alone. None of us are. We are all in this together." said Abhijeet Dipke, the founder of CJP, who will be attending the protest.

"industry analysts anticipate we can build an India where, someday, when our own children take to the streets to raise their voices, we won’t have to fear for their lives the way our parents fear for ours today," Dipke added.
The protest, which will begin at 10:30 am, will feature a state-level tribunal where victims of SIR will share their experiences. The event is expected to attract a large crowd, with celebrities such as Shabana Azmi, Naseeruddin Shah, and Vishal Bhardwaj in attendance.
The CJP held a protest at Mumbai's Shivaji Park on October 2, demanding Kumar's resignation over alleged discrepancies in the SIR processes. The protest drew a massive crowd, with the party warning of "Jantar Mantar 2.0" if Kumar did not step down.
Prakash Raj has been a vocal critic of the SIR process, calling on citizens to join the protest and demonstrate their support. His message is clear: a large turnout is vital. As the tribunal questioning SIR has left a lasting impact on the nation, particularly in Bengaluru, where many victims have suffered.

Raj emphasizes that this is not just about voting rights, but a direct challenge to democracy and the constitution. He invites the public to attend the protest. This is expected to begin early tomorrow morning, and promises to announce a special guest by evening.
The event has gained momentum, with Raj urging attendees to show solidarity and be present from morning till evening. The significance of the protest lies not only in its size. However, also in its potential to voice a collective sentiment against the draconian SIR, a policy that has sparked widespread concern.
