Charity for New Mothers Faces Closure Over Funding Crisis

For Sarah N'Guio, Frome Birth Talk was a lifesaver. A year after giving birth, N'Guio received counselling from the charity and said it saved her life. "Without them, I probably would have lost my children and lost my life," she said.
The charity's director, Suzy Cristinacce, said that more and more people are suffering from mental health problems and that the charity sector is helping fill the gaps. However, Cristinacce also warned that the charity's recent applications for funding have been rejected.

Cristinacce said that about 50% of the charity's money is generated from grant funding. And that the charity has set up a crowdfunding site that will be open until Sunday.
The Royal College of Midwives reports that about one in four new mums will face a mental health issue after giving birth.
A spokesperson for the Royal United Hospitals (RUH) Bath said that other support is available for women in the area. And that an NHS pathway includes a referral into the RUH perinatal mental health team.
