Thirty-two-year-old Vishna Ram, a wanted drug smuggler from Barmer, Rajasthan, was arrested by the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) from Mandsaur in Madhya Pradesh, bringing an end to his nearly two-year-long evasion of arrest.
According to Inspector General Vikas Kumar of the ANTF. Vishna Ram had studied up to Class 12 and initially worked as a driver before entering the drug trade. He allegedly established links with smugglers in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Haryana, supplying drugs in the Marwar region.
Vishna Ram had been involved in criminal activities for around 12 years. With over 18 cases registered against him in different police stations of Rajasthan. He had been evading arrest by changing his identity and running a furniture business in Madhya Pradesh to avoid detection.

The furniture business, which was initially used to avoid detection, was also a key factor in his arrest, as investigators tracked down the artisans involved in the business to Umaria village in Mandsaur district.
Vishna Ram's family history is marked by a painful legacy of addiction, with his grandfather struggling with poppy husk. This early exposure would later shape Ram's involvement in the illicit trade. As he became a vital middleman in the network smuggling goods between Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan.
Authorities suspect Ram's activities may have flouted both the Arms Act and the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
Vishna Ram was arrested and is currently in police custody. His arrest is a significant blow to the trafficking network operating between Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. The ANTF's relentless efforts to track down and bring to justice those involved in the drug trade have paid off.
