According to Dinah Bonzi, an official in the Bank of Ghana's currency department, "The Ghana cedi is a legal tender, and it must be handled with respect.
Misusing or abusing the currency is an offence that may result in sanctions under the law."
The suspects could face a fine or jail term, to be determined by the court. Dinah, Bonzi stated. that anyone who aids or promotes such activities could also be arrested and prosecuted.
