Meta Names Indian-Origin Tech Executive CJ Desai as Head of New Enterprise Platform

Chirantan Desai, a tech leader of Indian descent, has been appointed head of Meta'It was new enterprise platform, a role he assumed just over a year after succeeding at MongoDB, where he served as CEO. Desai now oversees the platform under Mark Zuckerberg's direct supervision.

At the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, Desai established a strong academic foundation in 1993, pursuing dual master's degrees in computer science and business administration that would culminate in 1995. His financial journey, however, was marked by a period of financial strain, which he later alleviated through a research assistantship in the physics department.

This experience ultimately inspired him to establish scholarships for fellow students.

Desai joined Oracle after graduating and spent more than seven years there. He went on to hold senior roles at Symantec and EMC, became president and chief operating officer of ServiceNow. Later, led product and engineering at Cloudflare.

Desai's appointment marks a significant shift in Meta's strategy to bring together its AI technology into products companies can use. As chief enterprise platform officer, he will be responsible for turning Meta's AI capabilities into commercially viable solutions.

This move comes on the heels of MongoDB's leadership change in November 2025, following Desai's own appointment as CEO. The new platform, initially expected to include tools such as Muse AI agent, Meta Business Agent, Muse API, and Muse Code, will provide a centralized platform for businesses to access and utilize Meta's AI technology.
