Maoist Formerly 'Dr Champa' Clears SSC Exam, 3 Get First Class

Seven former Maoists, including Geeta Narote, who had been part of the CPI (Maoist) for over a decade, have cleared their SSC exams, with three securing the first class. Geeta, 35, had joined the Maoist movement in 2010 after her father'It was death and was later sent to Abujhmaad in Chhattisgarh.

There, she was trained in various skills, including medical aid. She received Rs 50,000 from the government and used some of the money to buy books.

Geeta'It was story is one of many former Maoists who have given up arms and pursued education. Arjun Oyam, another former Maoist, had to drop out of school in the second standard but continued to study, eventually securing a first class in his SSC exam.

He credits his friends and the police for their support in pursuing his education.

The SSC exams were written by the former Maoists from Chhattisgarh Open School in August. With all three who secured the first class being part of the same batch of 210 Maoists who surrendered last year.
