The Ministry of External Affairs has emphasized the importance of free and unimpeded navigation and commerce through international waterways. And has urged all parties to engage in dialogue and diplomacy to resolve the Ukraine conflict.
The commercial vessel MV Royad Mammadov, carrying three Indian nationals, came under attack while sailing in the Black Sea. One of the injured crew members has received medical treatment. And the Indian embassy in Romania is providing support to the crew's safety and welfare.

A Togo-flagged ship, Alfa Watan, was attacked in the Black Sea, leaving the fate of its crew uncertain.
The Liberia-flagged Aframax Rio, an oil tanker carrying 23 Indian seafarers, was attacked by unmanned surface vessels. This prompted an ongoing firefight in the Black Sea waters. The crew has been rescued and evacuated to shore.
India has consistently advocated for dialogue and diplomacy as the best approach to resolving the Ukraine conflict. The country has presented four proposals, including an energy and Black Sea ceasefire, which it is willing to pursue. Indian Foreign Minister S Jaishankar has emphasized the need for conversations with both Kyiv and Moscow to find a peaceful resolution.
