Beats has entered the design chat with its latest over-ear headphones. The 360, which boast a sleek, color-matched aesthetic and improved longevity features. The headphones, aimed at active consumers on the go, have been put through a rigorous testing process by reviewer Tshaka Armstrong, who shares his hands-on experience with the Beats 360.

The Beats 360 are available in four frame colors. Along with six performance knit and two ultra plush cushion color kits, each costing $50. The headbands are extremely simple to swap out.

And the ear cushions have sensors that tell the frames to adjust the tuning for consistent sound profiles. The headphones also feature an IPX4 rating for water ingress and a chime that sounds off when the ear cushions are properly seated.

Beats is offering a $79 mail-in or carry-in battery replacement service, similar to the Beats Studio Pro and Solo 4. The nine-microphone configuration and noise-cancellation algorithms provide better ANC in the high mids and high frequencies. Making them a boon for fitness-minded folks.

Sound Quality and Design

The Beats 360 have a more balanced sound with prominent mids. Greater clarity, and highs that can be a bit stilted on some tracks. The bass still rumbles on test tracks from The Roots and Skrillex, but it's tight.

The soundstage is large and open, and Dolby Atmos tracks sound fully engaging on the Beats 360.
