Kamal Haasan Calls for 'Justice Without Mercy' in R Veeramani POCSO Case

Kamal Haasan has reacted to the latest development in the R Veeramani POCSO case, calling for 'justice without mercy' in the case. The 84-year-old industrialist was arrested along with two associates on August 29. And a former employee of Veeramani was arrested on September 22 for possessing evidence and failing to report the matter to law enforcement.

The 'Gem Granites Veeramani' case has exposed the extent to which unscrupulous individuals can operate with impunity, hiding behind influential figures. Those who brought this to light, undeterred by the power of money, deserve our gratitude.

The long arm of justice must reach out without mercy to those involved in this affair. Such incidents must never happen again. The fact that wealth, influence, or personal connections can be used to silence victims or obstruct justice is unacceptable and must be exposed and investigated.

Chinmayi Sripaada, a singer, has also spoken out against those involved in the case, citing the disturbing content of her direct messages. Officials have confirmed that her messages were filled with accounts of child abuse survivors recalling their pain.

Last year, an FIR was registered after police received video footage of alleged abuse that Veeramani had put a minor through. A closure report was filed earlier this year, citing insufficient evidence. However, a Special POCSO Court rejected the report on August 19 and ordered a fresh investigation into the case.

Veeramani and two of his associates were arrested on August 29, after the survivor was traced. They were remanded in judicial custody and lodged in Puzhal Central Prison in Chennai.

The R Veeramani POCSO case has raised deeply disturbing questions about the extent to which influential individuals can evade accountability. The fact that Veeramani was able to go scott-free for so long is a shame. And it highlights the need for continued vigilance and action to protect victims of abuse.
