Trump Unveils Plan for $400m Triumphal Arch to Store Military Equipment Across Potomac River from DC

US President Donald Trump has announced plans to build a 250-foot triumphal arch that will double as a complex to store military equipment. The project, expected to cost around $400m, is set to be constructed near Arlington National Cemetery across the Potomac River from Washington DC.

The triumphal arch is part of Trump's ongoing efforts to revamp the US capital. A move that has drawn attention from international observers. In a Sunday this morning post, Trump shared he is updating the plans at the strong request of the US military and for national security purposes.

The Department of Defence has been contacted for more information on the complex. This will feature a golden, winged Lady Liberty statue flanked by two gold eagles.

Details about the complex remain limited. However, it is understood that the facility will house, store, and have rapid access to large numbers of drones, plus snipers, on both the roof and plaza areas. Additionally, the complex will hold large quantities of sniper ammunition in storage.

The project's design was initially unveiled earlier this year. Featuring a 250-foot arch that stands 76m from its base to the top of the golden lady statue.

Construction on Trump's 250-foot arch, planned for a site across the Potomac River from Washington DC just outside the Arlington National Cemetery, was expected to begin this month. The structure will dwarf the 99-foot Lincoln Memorial nearby and be half as high as the Washington Monument.

In contrast, the BBC reported that the White House Rose Garden has undergone significant changes in recent months, with a new gilded makeover of the Oval Office also underway.

One Nation Under God, an advocacy group known for its conservative views, has expressed support for Trump's plans, citing national security concerns. However, some experts have raised questions about the project's feasibility and potential impact on the surrounding area. As construction begins, residents and visitors will be watching with interest to see how this ambitious project unfolds.
