Google Fixes Android 17 QPR2 Beta 5 Reboot Problem for Pixel Users

Google has released its latest Android 17 QPR2 Beta 5 update, which includes several fixes and improvements for Pixel users. The company is addressing a reboot problem that was causing unexpected device reboots during continuous UI scrolling in media-heavy applications.

The update, vCP41.260828.005.A6 for eligible devices like the Pixel 6a, Pixel 7, 7 Pro, 7a, Pixel Fold, and Pixel Tablet, aims to solve a system instability issue that was causing reboots. The patch notes also mention a fix for an issue with the Pixel's side buttons for volume control.

Google has also fixed an issue with enhanced HDR being stuck for several users on the Issue Tracker. The company says its fix should solve the problem of the feature "remaining enabled despite being turned off in user settings."

The update is available to Pixel testers, and users can download it by checking their device's build number. Google states that users with a Pixel 6a, Pixel 7, 7 Pro, 7a, Pixel Fold, or Pixel Tablet will receive vCP41.260828.005.A6.

Additionally, the update includes fixes for other issues reported during QPR2 testing, such as a Bluetooth call audio issue and strange UI freezing. Google is also addressing a broken gesture problem.

Android 17 QPR2 Beta 4 marked the end of August and entered Platform Stability, ushering in the final stretch toward launch. This milestone locks in the OS' APIs, ensuring a smooth user experience.
