Women in Film India and Google Flow have partnered to launch the WIF India × Google Flow Filmathon. A new initiative designed to support emerging filmmakers in their creative journeys. The program provides access to AI-assisted filmmaking tools.

This enables participants to develop original ideas, explore new visual possibilities, and discover innovative ways to bring their stories to life.

Arathi Sethumadhavan, Director, International Activations & Product Insights, Technology & Society, Google, has expressed enthusiasm for the partnership. Officials stated that the collaboration gives filmmakers access to a new creative studio while keeping the most important part of filmmaking where it belongs: with the storyteller and the story.

Through the Filmathon, in collaboration with WIF India, we can’t wait to see the short films storytellers across the country bring to life — and how they expand the boundaries of artistic expression through this technology, said Dr. Rabia Chopra, Head of Programming and Strategy, WIF India.

The program aims to empower emerging filmmakers to explore new creative possibilities and bring their unique perspectives to the forefront.

The selected top 5 films from the Filmathon will be showcased at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in 2026. Bringing the program into conversation with India's wider filmmaking community. As part of WIF India's efforts to create more access and meaningful opportunities for filmmakers, this initiative marks an important step forward in empowering emerging talent.
