NTR and KCR Make Easter Egg Appearance in Nani's The Paradise

The Paradise, a new film by Srikanth Odela, has been generating buzz in the Telugu film industry with its blend of fiction and reality. Set in the fictional city of Paradise, the movie pays homage to several notable figures.

This includes late Telugu superstar Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao (NTR) and former Chief Minister of Telangana Kalvakuntla Chandrashekar Rao (KCR).

According to Priyadarshi Pulikonda, who plays MLA Shankaranna, a character inspired by KCR, Odela aimed to incorporate enough real-world references to make the film work. Pulikonda shared that the Paradise is filled with Easter eggs, making it a treat for those willing to look beyond the surface.

The film begins with a tribute to revolutionary Telangana poet and singer Gummadi Vittal Rao, better known as Gaddar. A short clip even features Gaddar singing one of his famous ballads. Culinary landmarks like Paradise Biryani and Liberty Cafe are also subtly woven into the narrative.

The Paradise is set in the fictional city of Paradise, where the Savaari tribe faces exploitation by a feudal overlord. The film's setting draws inspiration from the real-world struggles of the people of Telangana. Odela noted that the Paradise never explicitly mentions Telangana or Hyderabad, but the geographical references are evident throughout.

The 1980s are palpably present in the films of Telugu superstar Chiranjeevi. With his posters and movies serving as a visual time capsule. A common sight in the films is a Punjabi character. Who is seen listening to the music of Amar Singh Chamkila, the legendary Punjabi folk singer.

In MLA Shankaranna's character, played by Priyadarshi Pulikonda, the tilak and features are a clear indication that he is inspired by KCR. The former Chief Minister of Telangana was a key figure in the 1980s. Serving as Vice-President of Andhra Pradesh Youth Congress and holding key positions in the Assembly.

The film's time period is also evident in the character's interactions with NTR, who was a prominent figure in the late 1980s.

At the end of the film, Shankaranna not only helps the Savaaris but also brings along someone who is only referred to as the 'CM' to help them gain legal recognition. While the Chief Minister is never named, the silhouette shown to the audience is a clear giveaway that it is NTR.

The film's use of Easter eggs and real-world references has been well-received by fans and critics alike.
