President Droupadi Murmu Urges Film Industry to Promote Healthy Lifestyles

For the first time in years, the 72nd National Film Awards broke with tradition by relocating to Ekta Nagar in Gujarat, a marked shift from the usual venue of Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi. President Droupadi Murmu took the stage, emphasizing the importance of artists adopting balanced lifestyles and avoiding products that can harm their well-being.

Addressing the ceremony, Murmu highlighted the significant influence that popular artists, particularly those followed by children and young people, have on society. The President also called for greater dignity and social security for workers in the creative economy. This includes assistants, small artists, and those struggling to establish themselves in the industry.

The 72nd National Film Awards ceremony marked a significant departure from the recent tradition of holding the ceremony at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi. The event was held in Gujarat's Ekta Nagar. A move that is part of the government's plan to take the National Film Awards to tourist destinations across the country.

This initiative aims to forge a deeper connection with India's rich cultural and tourism landscape.

The ceremony also announced the winners of various awards, including the Best Feature Film. This was awarded to Article 370, and the Best Actress in a Leading Role. This was won by Yami Gautam for her film. Kartik Aaryan and, Mammootty shared.

the Best Actor in a Leading Role award for their films Bramayugam and Chandu Champion, respectively. Dadasaheb Phalke Award winner Anant Nag was also recognized for his contributions to the film industry.

Minister of Information and Broadcasting Ashwini Vaishnaw has unveiled a plan to expand the country's prestigious awards. States and union territories are now being encouraged to submit proposals for hosting future award ceremonies. With a focus on ensuring that each destination can accommodate the necessary infrastructure and development plans.

As part of this initiative, the next edition of the World Audio Visual &amp. Entertainment Summit (WAVES) will be held in October 2027. Further solidifying the government's commitment to promoting the country's rich cultural and entertainment industry.
