Arc Raiders Adds Paid Reward Pass in Frozen Trail Update

Video game developer Embark Studios will introduce a battle pass system to its extraction shooter, Arc Raiders. The new progression track arrives with the Frozen Trail update on October 8. It provides both free and paid reward options for players across all platforms.

The feature is officially called The Frozen Trail Reward Pass. It contains 60 levels of unlockable in-game rewards across two tracks. All players who own the base game receive access to the Free Pass automatically.

Players can upgrade to the Premium Pass at any point during their progression.

The Premium Pass costs 1,150 Raider Tokens in the in-game store. It adds 50 extra cosmetic rewards alongside the standard free track items. Players who finish the pass also earn back 1,150 Raider Tokens from the premium tier.

Completing both the Free and Premium tracks awards a total of 1,350 Raider Tokens. Active players can fund future passes purely through the tokens they earn while playing.

Embark also bundled the pass with a new paid DLC release. The Frozen Trail Collector Set provides the pass along with 2,400 Raider Tokens. This store bundle also grants the Renzo outfit, the Bob Hair Style, and the Dragon's Breath Weapon Stencil.

Product director Gerardo Basurto described the system as a "new progression mechanic." He also called it an "evolution of Raider Decks," the game's prior reward track. Basurto said the free tier "gives you access to all of the basic cosmetics, so you get all of the outfits." The paid tier adds visual toggles like color variants, hair styles, and backpacks.

The update also introduces Weapon Stencils to let users alter the appearance of their gear. Weapon stats remain completely unaffected by these visual modifications. Players can obtain stencils in multiple ways.

Once learned, players gain the permanent ability to apply them to any compatible weapon.

Executive producer Aleksander Grøndal explained the cosmetic approach during a preview event attended by GamesRadar+. He stated that the premium path is purely cosmetic and offers items that make characters look different. Grøndal emphasized there is no gameplay advantage for players who purchase the upgrade.

The studio has not yet clarified whether the reward pass will carry an expiration date.
