Maharashtra FDA Chief Tukaram Mundhe Warns Film Stars Against Endorsing Harmful Products

Maharashtra FDA Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe has reiterated his stance, warning film stars not to promote products harmful to public health. Mudhe said, he shared. President Droupadi MurmuIt was recent appeal to film stars not to endorse such products.

At the 72nd National Film Awards, held in Gujarat's Kevadia, President Murmu emphasized the impact of successful film artists on young minds. Her address highlighted the phenomenon where millions of children and adolescents emulate the disciplined lifestyles of renowned artists.

The President cautioned celebrities against endorsing products that can pose a risk to public health. Citing their significant influence on the minds of the younger generation.

Mundhe shared a video of the President's speech on X and reiterated his stance. "Influence is not immunity. Artists, like everyone else, must respect the law and recognise the responsibility that comes with endorsing products, behaviours and habits that shape public choices," he wrote.

"When influence is used to endorse food products, public health cannot be an afterthought. In Maharashtra, we have already issued notices to artists for endorsements that raise concerns in the larger public interest," he added.

noting that influence must never become a licence to promote what may harm public health. No commercial interest can take precedence over public health, he said., adding that "no one is above the law".

Mumbai's culinary scene has been shaken by a crusader. Tukaram Mundhe, who has been conducting high-profile raids on eateries, highlighting egregious lapses in food safety and hygiene. His FDA crackdowns have already shuttered numerous establishments, leaving patrons and owners alike to grapple with the consequences.

However, Mundhe's attention turned to a new target on August 11, as the FDA issued notices to prominent Bollywood stars. This includes Shah Rukh Khan, Ajay Devgn, and Tiger Shroff, alleging that one of them had ignored a summons.
