Nana Patekar, a renowned National Award-winning actor and professional shooter, died on October 8 after a heart attack, his son confirmed. The actor, known for his prowess in shooting, had competed in rifle shooting competitions at state and national levels for decades.

Nana's move to shooting was late in his life, beginning with practice in his 40s. He recalled how he started his shooting journey. Saying, "I used to be the chief guest in all the prize distribution ceremonies of shooting competitions.

I tried my hand at a lot of guns, and my aim improved. I started hitting tiny targets like a mineral bottle caps."

Nana's athletic prowess was on full display at the 48th National Shooting Championships. Held at the BSF's Reoti Range in Indore in 2004. A year later, he secured a team bronze medal for Maharashtra, showing his consistency with a score of 549 out of 600, ultimately ranking 13th among 49 competitors.

This achievement was a shows his dedication and hard work. Skills honed during his time training with the Indian Army for his 1991 film Prahaar.

The title of 'renowned shot' meant that the actor could import a rifle duty-free. Nana had said that he could assure the authorities that he would shoot 590 points out of 600. This title was a reflection of his exceptional shooting skills, which he had developed over the years.

In 2007, he won the National Shooting Championship, further solidifying his reputation as a skilled shooter.
