President Donald Trump is proposing a new presidential retreat at his Florida golf club. Trump International Golf Club, in West Palm Beach, Florida. The retreat would be a secure, private facility for the president and visiting heads of state, with no cost to the federal government.

"It's only about two minutes away from the airport … and they could spend the weekend there, like a retreat, like a sort of Camp David retreat," Trump said on Wednesday. The idea was first suggested by Secret Service officials. Who believe the golf club would be a safe and secure location for the president.

The Trump International Golf Club has a 27-hole golf course and club. With a luxurious clubhouse, a gift store, and hosts frequent social events for members. The club is connected to the rest of the city by ample roadways.

Some of which are lined with supporters or protesters when the president is there.

The Camp David property, located in Catoctin Mountain Park in Frederick County, Maryland, was first taken over as a retreat by President Franklin Roosevelt in the 1930s. The area is rustic and resembles a military facility, with Marines guarding the perimeter and airspace above restricted.

A proposal from Donald Trump's team to the Florida county commission has been outlined in a letter from the golf club's attorney. According to the document, Mr. Trump would grant the club presidential status, rendering it a U.S.

Trump said at the Oval Office on Wednesday that he thinks the idea is "a great idea" and would provide maximum safety for the president and visiting heads of state.
