TCS has emerged as the preferred partner for US consumer electronics retailer Best Buy's India GCC operations after winning a five-year technology services engagement based on competitive pricing and aggressive service-level agreements.

The Indian IT major pulled ahead of Accenture in the final leg of the race, with Wipro initially part of the shortlist. The deal is estimated to be worth around Rs 2,000 crore, covering GCC operations and broader technology services offering including data analytics and AI.

Best Buy's India GCC, based in Bengaluru, has approximately 600 employees. The five-year contract will deepen TCS's longstanding relationship with the retailer, spanning technology services and digital transformation.

Phil Fersht, CEO of HFS Research, estimates that TCS's existing relationship with Best Buy generates $75-$100 million in annual revenue, although no publicly disclosed contract value exists. The deal marks a significant milestone for TCS, which has been steadily expanding its GCC capabilities globally.

In 2024, Best Buy set up a 70,000-sq-ft technology centre in Bengaluru to accelerate its digital transformation. The centre aims to serve as an innovation hub for digital strategy, product management, design, engineering, infrastructure, and operations.

"Our intention is to make the Best Buy India hub the heart of innovation around mobile and AI platforms," Brian Tilzer, then chief digital, analytics, and technology officer at Best Buy, had said in 2024. "We're actively building and ramping up teams in those areas."
