Several political leaders, including Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Peoples Democratic Party leader Mehbooba Mufti, have drawn parallels between the current situation in Delhi and the situation in Kashmir. The comparison comes ahead of the Cockroach Janata Party's planned protest at Jantar Mantar. There, they are demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
The Delhi government has imposed a 24-hour mobile internet blockade on Central Delhi. Starting from 10 pm Friday, in an effort to curb protests. This move has been met with criticism from opposition leaders, who see it as an attempt to silence dissent.
Mehbooba, Mufti stated. that the government's actions are a "chilling reminder" of the Valley's experience under Article 370.

Speaking to reporters in Delhi, he said that if elections aren't fair, then how can it be considered a democracy? He also noted that the "Kashmir model" has been exported to Delhi, where the government is using similar tactics to silence dissent.
The detention of political leaders under the Public Safety Act has also been a topic of discussion. Both Omar and Mufti were among several leaders detained during the 2019 lockdown. At that time, the Centre snapped internet, mobile, and telephone connections in J&K. The region experienced its longest internet shutdown, with 4G services not fully restored until February 2021.
The Cockroach Janata Party's proposed protest at Jantar Mantar has been halted due to the clampdown. The party's demands for the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar remain unchanged, despite the government's efforts to silence them.
