Abhishek Pathak: ‘Nobody would make Drishyam just for money’

Writer-director Abhishek Pathak has revealed that he will never write a fourth part of the Hindi Drishyam franchise. Citing creative decisions over commercial considerations. The third instalment, titled 'The Conclusion', is set to release in theatres on October 2, 2026.

The moment Drishyam 2 released in 2022, I was sure I wanted to do this differently. I did not want to do a remake because it takes away from your craft. This film is written by me, so it can’t have the tag of a remake.

Abhishek's decision to revisit Drishyam for a third installment was not driven by commercial necessity. Despite the sequel's phenomenal ₹345 crore worldwide haul – more than three times the initial film's earnings. Instead, he and his team opted for a four-year hiatus, with two years devoted to scriptwriting.

This allows them to refine their vision before revisiting the franchise.

Abhishek recognises the pressure to stay ahead of the viewers. He says, “The audience is more prepared than us right now. They have their own theories and stories.

That is our biggest challenge. Drishyam does not work on a formula."

When asked about the chances of a part 4 in Hindi, Abhishek exclaims: “Zero!” He adds, “I will never write it. reports suggest this film has been written really well. I am not bragging here, but we have put our life and soul into this."

The new entrants in the cast are Jaideep Ahlawat, Prakash Raj and Saurabh Shukla. The film releases in theatres on October 2, 2026.
