Tanishaa Mukerji Urges Paparazzi Not to Provoke Jaya Bachchan

Actor Tanishaa Mukerji has asked photographers to give veteran actor Jaya Bachchan space during the upcoming Durga Puja festivities. She made the plea during a press conference in Mumbai on Friday ahead of Durga Puja 2026 celebrations. The annual festival takes place at the SNDT Ground in Juhu.
The event is organized by the North Bombay Sarbojanin Durga Puja committee. Crowds gather each year to see actors such as Rani Mukerji, Kajol, and filmmaker Ayan Mukerji. Jaya Bachchan also visits the venue regularly to participate in the traditional rituals.
Tanishaa asked the media and visitors to keep order as crowds grow during the festive week. "There's going to be a lot more footfall," Tanishaa said. "So I definitely request everybody in the media and the public to please take care of each other." She reminded everyone not to push near the stages and to maintain simple manners.
Tanishaa also joked about the tense relationship between photographers and the senior actor. She addressed the camera crews directly with a lighthearted warning.

Don’t trouble our Jaya aunty this time, Tanishaa said. "Y’all are troubling her a lot; please don’t trouble her." She noted that certain camera operators purposely provoke the veteran star. noting that aap log bahut badmash ho, kuch aapke photographers joh purposely jaa ke chabi lagate hai, she added.
"Mat karo humari Puja mein please."
Jaya Bachchan has repeatedly clashed with photographers during personal outings across Mumbai. In a 2025 interview with Mojo Story, she spoke about her deep irritation with constant tracking. She described herself as a "product of the media" because her father, Tarun Kumar Bhaduri, worked as a journalist.
Yet, she drew a clear line between formal journalism and intrusive street photography.
My relationship with the media is fantastic Bachchan had explained in that interview. "I'm the product of the media, but my relationship with the paparazzi is zero." She criticized untrained individuals who carry mobile phones to snap uninvited pictures in public spaces.

The North Bombay Sarbojanin Durga Puja carries deep family history for the Mukerji household. Filmmaker Deb Mukerji, father of Ayan Mukerji, led the organization for many decades. Following his death in 2025, the younger generation took complete charge of running the celebrations.
The family expects heavy foot traffic at the Juhu ground this festive season. Tanishaa hopes visitors and photographers will act respectfully throughout the entire event.
