Ricky Kej's DAMROOH Tour to Bring Indian Classical Music to Mainstream Grammys Categories

Ricky Kej, a three-time Grammy Award-winning composer and environmentalist, is set to take his biggest Indian live show yet to audiences across the country with his upcoming tour, DAMROOH – Dance To The Cosmic Spirit. Staged in support of UNICEF, the arena tour will travel across India between October and December 2026, with shows announced in Bengaluru, Delhi NCR, and Mumbai.

DAMROOH weaves a variety of sound, marrying classical orchestration with electronic beats, ancient Indian folk melodies, and traditional music in a visually stunning spectacle. At its heart lies the damru, an instrument revered for its ties to Lord Shiva and India's spiritual heritage.

This choice was not arbitrary, as Kej has built the show around the damru due to its deep connection to his environmental themes.

For me, DAMROOH is a beautiful concept simply because it is the first sound of creation, Kej explains in an interview with Hindustan Times. I've always been drawn to the damru's spiritual significance and its role in Indian spirituality. This choice reflects Kej's long-standing commitment to environmental awareness and sustainability.

Kej believes that traditional Indian musicians need to rethink the live concert experience. noting that we've been constantly taught that anything to do with our culture is uncool and anything the more Western we are. The cooler we are, he observes.

However, things are changing, and Kej sees an opportunity for innovation and growth.

For DAMROOH, Kej has brought together a large ensemble of musicians and a production built around sound, visuals, and technology. The tour will feature a fully seated symphonic experience that shows the best of Indian music. From classical orchestration to electronic beats and traditional melodies.
