The Budhi Gandaki River in central Nepal has flooded. Sweeping away houses, bridges, and damaging a part of the hydropower station, authorities have said. Around 50 people have been rescued from along the bank of the river in the Gorkha district, the army confirmed.
No casualties have been reported yet, however five people are missing.
Binod Parajuli, a meteorologist affiliated with the Nepalese government, is concerned about the loss of his hydrological station. This has left him without data from the affected area. Contrary to initial fears, experts suggest that the recent debris-flow was smaller and slower-moving than the devastating August flash floods.
The cause of the latest flood remains unknown.
