Ujjwal Nikam, the key figure behind the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks case, is at the center of a controversy surrounding the upcoming biographical courtroom drama Prahaar - The Ujjwal Nikam Story. The film, starring Rajkummar Rao, has drawn criticism for its depiction of Nikam's life and the key events of the attacks.

Nikam had reportedly set certain conditions for the filmmakers, which they only agreed to after extensive negotiations.

noting that my first condition was that there should be no glorification of any character, including myself, Nikam said. "I also told them to use real names of all the characters who had participated in this legal proceeding and the makers took no objection certificate from the concerned people, including the judge, Mr Madan Laxmandas Tahaliyani."

Madan Laxmandas Tahaliyani delivered the trial court judgment sentencing Ajmal Kasab to death on May 6, 2010. Prahaar - The Ujjwal Nikam Story is scheduled to release in theatres on October 16. 2026, starring Rajkummar Rao as public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam.

Nikam's condition was met by the makers, who used real names of all the characters involved in the legal proceeding. The film focuses on Nikam's role in the prosecution of Ajmal Kasab in the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks case.

Nikam praised Rajkummar Rao for his dedication to portraying him on screen. "Let me praise Rajkumaar Rao. He lived like Ujjwal Nigam.

He would emphatically forcefully say points of the submission," Nikam said.

Nikam's directive was to steer clear of any character. This includes himself, a peculiar request given the surprise he expressed upon viewing the trailer and other promotional materials. When fellow lawyers inquired about his relationship with Raj, Nikam countered that he was not moving forward with the individual in question.

Rajkummar Rao had not met Nikam before filming because the lawyer was busy. Instead, the actor watched videos of Nikam's courtroom arguments to prepare for the role.
