The order applied Rule 11(ix) of the Central Civil Services Rules. Akoijam's office did not respond to requests for comment regarding the order.

According to university sources, 11 female students filed complaints of misconduct against Akoijam. Officials noted that around 10 to 12 students from the centre submitted formal complaints. The Internal Committee then launched a detailed probe into the allegations.

The committee placed its final report before the Executive Council on September 30. During that meeting, the council decided to dismiss Akoijam with immediate effect. Pandit confirmed that the administration followed due process before issuing the termination order.

The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad had raised the issue on campus last month. The student group staged protests demanding the suspension and dismissal of the professor. Following the Friday order, the student group called the decision an important step toward campus safety.

ABVP JNU secretary Praveen Kumar, Piyush said. no political standing should stop impartial action. He demanded further legal steps against the lawmaker.

Piyush stated that university dismissal alone was not enough and urged police action to send him to jail.

The dismissal quickly sparked sharp political reactions outside the university campus. BJP national general secretary Smriti Irani criticized the Congress party on social media platform X. She pointed to previous political slogans used by party supporters.

Irani questioned whether the party would hold its lawmaker accountable over serious sexual harassment complaints. She asked if the group behind the "Smash the Patriarchy" slogan would now fall silent. Congress leaders have not yet issued an official response to the university action.
