Corsair's Silent Air 99 Wireless Suffers from Software Volatility and Early Chattering Issues
Key Highlights
- Early chattering issues with the Corsair Vanguard 99 Air.
- Software volatility with the Stream Deck functionality.
- Keyboard's compact design and quiet typing experience.
The Corsair Vanguard 99 Air Wireless Compact. A low-profile gaming keyboard with a quiet optical-mechanical typing experience. Has been plagued by early software issues and chattering problems, raising concerns about its reliability and value proposition.
According to the Corsair Vanguard 99 Air's specifications. The keyboard features a 99% layout, PBT keycaps, and dedicated macro keys, making it an attractive option for those seeking a compact gaming keyboard with a range of customization options. However, our testing experience revealed a different story.
One of the most frustrating issues we encountered with the Corsair Vanguard 99 Air was its early chattering. This was a problem that presented itself almost immediately. Multiple inputs were regularly detected off a single keystroke.

And it was a problem that was ultimately solved with a later firmware update on a new unit.
Our testing revealed a frustrating snag with the keyboard's software, particularly with the Stream Deck feature. The keyboard's seven dedicated macro keys, positioned along the right side of the deck, were intended to enhance control with the Razer's Stream Deck software.
Unfortunately, despite multiple attempts and ensuring both the keyboard and software were up to date, we encountered persistent connectivity issues, rendering the feature unusable – a problem that persisted even with a brand-new unit.

Considering the price point and the issues we encountered. We wouldn't recommend the Corsair Vanguard Air 99 to anyone initially drawn in by the promise of that Stream Deck integration. Instead, we would suggest looking at alternative options, such as the Asus ROG Falchion RX Low Profile, which offers a similar typing experience without the software volatility and chattering issues.
However, for those who are willing to overlook these issues and value the keyboard's compact design and quiet typing experience, the Corsair Vanguard Air 99 may still be worth considering. Ultimately, it's a decision that depends on individual priorities and needs.
