Mumbai's Film City has witnessed another devastating fire. This time on the set of Pati Patni Aur Panga 2. Leaving workers and artists concerned about the absence of adequate fire safety protocols. The AICWA has written to Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

Demanding a thorough inquiry and legal action against the channel and makers of the show.

According to Suresh Shyamlal Gupta, president of the AICWA, the fire broke out at 4 PM on Monday on the set of Pati Patni Aur Panga 2 and spread to the adjoining set of MTV's Hustle, although no injuries or casualties have been reported.

Industry standards for fire safety on film sets are often ignored, with some productions failing to implement basic safety measures. The lack of accountability at the top of the industry is a significant concern. As it puts the lives of thousands of workers and artists at risk every day.

The financial burden of these risks falls disproportionately on the lowest-paid workers. Who are often left to bear the costs of accidents and injuries. This is a stark contrast to the lucrative profits reaped by channels and producers, highlighting the need for greater accountability and responsibility.

The AICWA is calling for a time-bound investigation into the cause of the fire and the absence of fire safety measures on the Pati Patni Aur Panga set. An FIR for negligence against the channel.

Producer, and production house has also been demanded, as well as mandatory fire audits, fire safety staff, and firefighting equipment on every film set.

The AICWA is pushing for stricter regulations and enforcement to ensure that fire safety protocols are in place on every film set, with licences revoked for non-compliance. The Indian film industry's premier hub for production, Mumbai's Film City, has suffered yet another devastating blaze, prompting widespread concern and outrage.

Thousands of workers and artists are increasingly at risk due to the lack of accountability and responsibility within the industry. The consequences for those responsible remain woefully absent, as production houses and producers continue to prioritize cost-cutting over basic fire safety measures.
