Actress Hayden Panettieres Cause of Death Still Under Investigation After Autopsy

Hayden Panettiere, best known for her role in the TV series 'Nashville', has passed away at the age of 36. The actress was found unresponsive at a South Carolina Airbnb on Sunday, August 16, 2026.

The Greenville County Coroner's Office confirmed that an autopsy had been completed, but the cause of death is still under investigation.

'It is with profound sadness that we share the tragic passing of our beloved Hayden,' said her family in a statement. 'She was an incredible light and a force of nature who brought immeasurable love and joy to all who knew her — and to the millions who watched her onscreen.'

Panettiere's death is the second tragedy for her family this year, as her younger sibling Jansen Panettiere passed away in February 2023 due to an undiagnosed heart condition.

According to the coroner's office, Panettiere was found unresponsive inside the residence where she had been staying temporarily. First responders and emergency medical services arrived on scene and initiated advanced cardiac life support measures, but resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful.

The investigation into her death is ongoing, with further studies planned. No additional details can be disclosed at this time.
