GitHub Outage Leaves Developers Struggling with Code Review and Merging Tools
Developers around the world were left reeling after a three-hour outage hit GitHub's website, code review, and merging tools on Monday.
The outage began at 9:40 a.m. ET and affected most of the major services offered
Reports flooded in to Downdetector, indicating that the issue wasn't limited to a few users but was widespread.
However, GitHub's status updates revealed that error rates for web and API traffic were relatively low, around 20%, while raw repository content and archive downloads were failing at about 50%.

This meant that even getting access to the code itself might be more difficult than simply accessing GitHub.
The company said it had identified the problematic component and taken corrective action, with services showing strong signs of recovery.
GitHub has been struggling with capacity issues and infrastructure changes in recent weeks, including several incidents this month already.
