Trump brings Dennis Rodman to Texas rally, sparking hopes for Kim Jong Un meeting

US President Donald Trump has brought former NBA star Dennis Rodman to a rally in Texas. This sparks renewed hopes for a face-to-face meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. The basketball legend was seen in Trump's entourage at a truck factory in Denton.

Trump told workers at the Peterbilt factory in Denton that Rodman was the one who knew Kim Jong Un best, and that he hoped to speak with Trump about "life". Asked if he was going to North Korea any time soon, Rodman responded: "If you buy the ticket."

Trump had three high-profile meetings with Kim in his first term, including a visit to the Korean Demilitarized Zone. However, since returning to the presidency, he has not staged a similar event.

Rodman has been a vocal supporter of Kim Jong Un and has visited North Korea multiple times. He has also been a frequent presence in Trump's entourage, and has been seen accompanying the president on several occasions.

Trump is scheduled to attend the annual Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum next month in China. And could potentially add a meeting with Kim as part of that trip.

Trump told reporters on Tuesday at the White House that Kim Jong Un is a friend that he can work with. Despite North Korea's belligerent rhetoric and embrace of nuclear arms.

"He likes Trump, doesn't like a lot of other people," Trump said. "I'm about the only person in the entire world that he likes, and I like him."
