Embark Studios, the developer of popular extraction shooter Arc Raiders, has announced a renewed commitment to cracking down on cheaters in the game. In a statement posted to Twitter, executive producer Aleksander Grøndal reiterated that the studio takes cheating "incredibly seriously" and is investing significant time and resources into improving its anti-cheat measures.
"Our cheat detection systems are getting considerably stronger month by month," Grøndal said. "In addition to kernel-level protection from Denuvo and detections from Anybrain, we're using a growing set of in-house models built around machine learning and other data." These systems will help identify any suspicious behavior and prevent repeat offenders from returning to the game.

Grøndal also announced that permanent bans are now standard for all known cheat programs. And that any account caught using cheats will receive a permanent ban with no warnings or second chances. The studio is also expanding its use of license restrictions to prevent specific copies of the game from being used with new or different accounts.
Furthermore, Embark is working to implement hardware bans. This will prevent Arc Raiders from running on systems that have been used for cheating. The studio hopes to deploy these sanctions to almost all systems caught running cheat software later this year.
Grøndal concluded by saying that while Embark cannot completely eradicate cheating, it can make it difficult, costly, and short-lived. The studio is committed to continuing to work on improving its anti-cheat measures and providing a fair experience for players who are playing fairly.
