RKFC Nominated for International Emmy Awards, Season Two in the Works

Real Kashmir Football Club (RKFC) has been nominated for the 54th International Emmy Awards in the Drama Series category. This marked a significant milestone for the Indian football club. The show's creator and director, Mahesh Mathai, expressed his excitement and gratitude for the recognition.

Mathai, who also directed the 2000 film Bhopal Express, said he initially thought the nomination was a prank. There was an Instagram post, but no information about the Emmy site, so I made calls and finally found that it was true he recalled.

From getting the story in hand to right people coming on board, it has been a magical journey.

Mathai believes the nomination will help RKFC reach a global audience, particularly in the UK and US. There, Sony has made the show available. It's the kind of global show we watch, like Breaking Bad and those cartel and Mexico shows, he shared.

It also gives makers belief that good content does get recognition.

Mathai also confirmed that the show's creators are working on a sequel. This will explore the real-life struggles and triumphs of the football club. There are some ideas we have been working on, and that will further speed up the show, he said.

RKFC was founded by Sandeep Chattoo and Shamim Meraj, and later led by Arshad Shawl and Samarth Chattoo, Sandeep's son. The show has been a critical and commercial success, and its nomination is a proof to its quality and global appeal.

Born in Kerala and brought up in Mumbai. Mahesh Mathai has also directed british film Broken Thread (2005) and returned to direction with RKFC. His work on RKFC has been praised for its authenticity and attention to detail.
