Police in Goa have initiated an unnatural death case after 76-year-old actor Nana Patekar was found unresponsive at his residence in Dona Paula. According to police records, Patekar was rushed to Manipal Hospital, where he was declared dead early on Thursday morning.

Police received a call from the medical officer at Manipal Hospital at 8:07 am. Informing them that Patekar had been brought dead to the casualty ward from Dona Paula. A team of police officers visited the hospital and conducted an inquest, which is part of the protocol for such cases.

The police file states that the officers informed their superior officers about the situation and filed an unnatural death case under section 194 of the BNSS. Further enquiries into the matter are ongoing.

Dr. Shekhar Salkar, chief of the oncology department at Manipal Hospital, Goa, provided an update on the situation. According to Salkar, Patekar had messaged his friend earlier in the morning, stating that he was not feeling well.

The friend arrived at Patekar's residence around 4 am, where he found Patekar sweating and gasping for air.

Salkar explained that the hospital's emergency team performed cardiac massage on Patekar, but unfortunately, he was declared dead at 5:20 am. The hospital does not have information on whether Patekar had a history of heart trouble or was taking any medication.

According to Salkar, the cause of death is currently unknown, and it is believed to be a case of cardiac arrest. The post-mortem report will be necessary to determine the cause of death.

As part of the protocol, an unnatural death case has been filed to conduct an inquest into Patekar'It's death.
